Just last year, Cristina was named Deputy City Attorney and City Prosecutor.  Her duties include advising the City Attorney, the Assistant City Manager/Building Official, and various City Departments such as Public Works, Development Services, Finance, Economic Development, and Information Technology.  She also serves as counsel to the Construction Regulation Board, prosecutes code enforcement citation appeals before a Special Master.  Cristina also drafts legal opinions, resolutions, and ordinances that get presented before the City Commission.

Cristina served as Assistant City Attorney from July 2016 through November 2017.  She was previously an attorney at Astigarraga Davis, a commercial litigation and arbitration boutique law firm and her practice focused on international commercial disputes and financial services litigation.  Cristina also served as a Law Clerk to the Honorable G. Kendall Sharp, Senior District Judge in the Middle District of Florida.

Cristina graduated magna cum laude from Florida International University with a Bachelor of Science in English Education in 2002 and earned her Juris Doctor, magna cum laude, from Florida International University College of Law, graduating first in her class, in 2006.  While in law school, she was a recipient of the Dean’s Scholar Scholarship and served as president of the Board of Advocates and as comments editor for the FIU Law Review.

Cristina was awarded the Up and Comer Award at the Greater Miami Chamber of Commerce International Business Leadership Awards in 2016.  She was selected to the Top Up and Comer list by South Florida Legal Guide in 2016 and the Florida Rising Stars list by Super Lawyers each year from 2013 to 2016.  Cristina has served as Chair of the Nominations Committee for the South Florida Chapter of Women in International Trade previously served on the FIU College of Law Alumni Board.  Cristina is a member of the Dade County Bar Association and is admitted to practice in all Florida state courts as well as the United States District Court for the Southern and Middle Districts of Florida.
